Hayabusa Tribute

Hayabusa

On this very day my idol, my hero passed away.
Eiji Ezaki, (aka Hayabusa) was a one of a kind professional wrestler. His unique look and death-defying style captivated me. I discovered Hayabusa through my love for Mick Foley and ECW. In the late 90’s early 2000’s I would order ECW VHS tapes and Death Match VHS tapes from England. When I saw a few of his matches on these death match tapes, I instantly knew I needed more. I managed to get my hands on The Flying Assassin VHS tape. Produced By @djmilky Stu Levy’s #tokyopop.
...I was HOOKED.
Being a professional wrestler is the closest thing you can come to being a real life comic book superhero. Hayabusa was that and then some. I discovered Hayabusa just as my pro wrestling career begun. Out of all my idols, I emulated Hayabusa the most.
If you watch any of my matches you will see a hint of Hayabusa.
On December 23rd 2015, my dream of meeting him finally came true. We were booked on the same show at the EDION Arena. However when I got to the show, our locker rooms were on the opposite sides of the arena. I thought my dream of meeting my hero was not going to happen. But just before my match waiting to go on in the gorilla position he appeared on my right. I finally got to meet him. I got to meet my hero and tell him thank you for everything he has ever done for this business and how much he has inspired me. He thanked me and we briefly spoke before I had to go out to wrestle. He wished me good luck and that would be the last time I would see him. My hero would pass away only 3 months later. I’m really glad I got to meet my hero. It really felt like meeting him was meant to be. He will live on through me and the thousands of others who were inspired by him. This is my tribute to my hero.
Hayabusa,
May you Rest In Peace as memories of you live on.
Eiji Ezaki (Hayabusa 1968~2016)
